Indian Guides We know several Indian legends about the Gran Sabana tepuyes, most recognized as the source of all the life. Mythology Pemón points to Roraima as the realm of the Goddess Kuin "grandmother of all civilized people", who flatters drinks and music to visitors.

1596: Sir Walter Raleigh is mentioned in his book "Guiana", calling the Crystal Mountain.

1654: The French cartographer Nicolas Sanson d'Abbeville made the first map of the region

1869: the geologist Charles Barrington Brown claimed that the only way to ascend to the top was in a balloon!

1879: The study of birds, Henry Witely, first seen close hand side of this and assumed that could lead to the top

1884: The British Everard My Thurn and Harry I. Perkins, become the first explorers to reach the summit.

1892: Jules Verne, Roraima mentions in his novel "The Superb Orinoco"

1912: Inspired by the geological age of Guiana, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, author of the Sherlock Holmes novels, he wrote his book "The Lost World", where characters capture a pterodactyl in a "table" north of Manaus confluence of the borders of three countries.

1931: remember the setting of "Triple Point" on top of Roraima, where the borders of Venezuela, Brazil and Guyana.

1987: Greening Engineering Group (IGAD), Central University of Venezuela started the registration of visitors from Roraima, having until December 1990 a total of 3,600 visitors, mostly Venezuelans, Germans and Americans.

Gladys Lake Roraima 1990: The National Parks Institute (INPARQUES) prohibits access to tepuy tourism due to the multiple damage caused by visitors, among them one can cite the destruction of the flora and the accumulation of garbage on top.

1992: Restart the rise resort with strict Pemón presence of a guide (see photo), which in theory would help to protect the Tepuy. However, the real responsibility to protect the individual have visitors each year explore these fabulous mountains. So please take care!
